Finalizing Small Arms Training Project

Working hard to finish up a new small arms trainer; some of our most detailed work ever. Can’t wait to unveil the finished project…

Aircraft Marshalling Character Animation

Here is a quick sample from our most recent internal meeting from our aircraft signal character animations:

Rigging Aircraft Marshalling Characters for Signal Animation

Aircraft marshalling is the visual signaling between ground personnel and pilots as an alternative or addition to radio communication between the aircraft and air traffic control. Wearing one of several uniforms including a reflecting safety vest, helmet with acoustic earmuffs, gloves or marshalling wands, and handheld illuminated beacons, marshallers are responsible for directing aircraft safety.

Marshalling Project Character Variations: Different uniform colors reflect different jobs / personnel – for example purple handles the fuel, white + crosses the medical needs, and so on.

There are a number of signals marshallers must learn and our team has been accurately rigging ground crew characters to animate their different types of uniforms and the corresponding signals for virtual training and instruction. These characters will ultimately be used for virtual training within an interactive flight simulator.

Signal variations can include: keep turning, slow down, stop, or shut down engine; as well as take-off and landing clearances in small spaces, fueling assistance, or medical needs. So far we’ve put together 9 signals and 9 variations of the character uniforms.
